Construction Commenced
Sunday June 13th we went back to NawakertiVillage, Karangasem, to follow up our plan to provide better housing for the two families we visited the week before. Detail on each of them are posted on Three Generations in Poverty and The Lonely Old Man.
This time we came in a larger team involving almost all Private Leisure’s Bali crews. Along with us we bring some basic needs for them such as raw foods, clothings, towels, soaps, basic kitchen utensils, etc. Some are purchased, some are collected personally from our crews, some came from colleagues and friends. As arrived we were welcomed by Pak Sujana, the village leader locally known as “penglingsir” and the Pak Nengah, the official village head.
Below we walk along the pathway to the place where Pak Gejer and his family live carrying stuffs. Leading the march at the front was Isti, Private Leisure’s trasurer. She was the person in charge to cut each and every Private Leisure’s incomes and drop them into the charity fund, so she deserved the commanding role.

But our main objective is not carrying the donated stuffs. We were starting to build their new houses as planned. A friend who was also an architect has drawn the design and calculated all the required materials to build his design. On the picture below Private Leisure’s Managing Partner, Wisna, is explaining the design to Pak Sujana and Pak Nengah who will supervise the project.

By the end of the day we had all materials ordered and delivered so we hope to see them in their new houses very soon. We also have dropped logistic for the villagers who will be voluntarily involved in costruction. In the picture below we were unloading cement bricks at Pak Berag’s site.
